Sedation and Anesthesia

Some children may benefit from sedation or general anesthesia for dental care, including those who are highly anxious, have many dental needs, or have other special health care needs. Drs. LaRee Johnson and Clark Morris are dentists for kids, and as pediatric dentists, they are trained to evaluate children's dental and behavioral requirements and make recommendations for their care. Carolina Pediatric Dentistry offers moderate oral (conscious) sedation as well as general anesthesia at multiple locations, listed below, for your convenience.

We are committed to safe and compassionate care for all children, and before determining whether moderate sedation or general anesthesia may benefit your child, we would like to meet him/her for an initial visit. At this visit, we will complete a dental exam and discuss all available options for his/her care, including the risks and benefits of each option.

Moderate Oral (Conscious) Sedation: Your child will remain awake and responsive throughout this procedure. He or she will be prescribed a medicine that will be taken orally, treatment will be completed in our office, and he/she will return home afterwards.

General Anesthesia: Your child will be completely asleep for this procedure, and anesthesia is administered under the supervision of a highly trained anesthesia provider for the safety of your child. We are excited to be able to deliver general anesthesia at three locations for the convenience of your family.
